Bad Bean-New Location, Same Great Food
Posted by Brindley Beach Vacations and Sales | Wednesday, May 11, 2016

Two months after they moved and a few trips to the new place to make sure the quality hasn’t slipped, we can say with absolute assurance that Bad Bean Baja Grill is as good as it every was.

Taking over the old Pizzaz Pizza in Kitty Hawk, the new location gives the owner and chef Rob Robertson a little more room and much more visibility over his old location, tucked away in a corner of SeaGate North Shopping Center in Kill Devil Hills.

The visits we made to the new location confirmed that a.) the burritos are stuffed with so much filling that eating one at one sitting is a challenge; b.)the seafood tacos are outstanding; and c.) the beer is cold and the margaritas refreshing.

In short, it’s a lot like it was only a little bit better.

Bad Bean isn’t like most Mexican Restaurants. Rob is a classically trained chef who has a passion for the cuisine of Mexico. If there is a hankering for beef burrito with a side of refried beans—La Fogata, about a mile south on the Bypass is a great choice.

But Rob’s  slow-cooked brisket of beef burrito elevates the simple burrito to classic cuisine;  his Pork Belly Jalapeno Popper Eggroll is like nothing else out there.

It’s worth checking out. For regulars, there’s no need to convince anyone. For anyone who hasn’t tried Bad Bean, this a great excuse—better location, a little more room in the dining area, but same great food.
