Interactive Theatre at the Town of Duck.

Now that the 4th of July is here, summer on the Outer Banks is in full swing. There is so much to do as our nation celebrates its birthday that we were just able to list all of it, and there are probably some things we missed.

But even after the our Independence Day celebrations, the Outer Banks is still filled with great things to do.

One of the reasons that so many families like to visit with us is how family friendly the Outer Banks is and going through some of the upcoming events, that is really clear.

We thought we would highlight some of the great things to do for kids for kids, focusing this time on the Town of Duck and Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo. But this just scratches the surface—almost all Kitty Hawk Kite stores have a kids day, although it does change by location and the Whalehead Club always has family friendly events.

What we have listed today is as good a place to start as any, but it’s really just a start. There truly are too many activities geared toward kids to list them all.

The Children's Literature Association named this "the best American children's book of the past two hundred years," and Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B. White, has created a play that captures this work in a thrilling theatrical presentation. All the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be "a true friend and a good writer.”

Velveteen Rabbit Children's Show

July 20, 21, 22 at 10:30 a.m.

This literary classic is routinely named one of the top books for children! The heartwarming story tells of a stuffed rabbit and its quest to become real. The story celebrates unconditional love and ready beauty with a strong anti-bullying message. Join our professional actors as they bring to life this engaging and sweet story with imaginative costumes and captivation skill.

Bright Star’s professional actors bring to life the stories of “The Tortoise and the Hare,” “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” “The Fox and the Grapes,” “The Lion and the Mouse” and “The Monkey and Her Pail.” Brimming with audience participation and character education, this production celebrates the moral lessons available in each of these charming tales.
