OBX Events Fill the Day on July 4th
Posted by Brindley Beach Vacations and Sales | Sunday, June 26, 2016

The 4th of July is just one week away and for visitors lucky enough to be on the Outer Banks during the celebration of our nation’s birthday, there is plenty to do.

Start the day with a two mile run over Jockey’s Ridge. It’s called the Killer Dunes 2-miler, and as anyone will attest who has run on sand, two miles in that environment is not going to be easy.

For a fun time, check out the Town of Duck’s Annual Independence Day Parade. A whacky, fun time—don’t miss this one. A quick note about the parade: although no part of the route is on NC12, traffic can get backed up during the parade because there are so many people watching and participating. It begins at 9a.m. and is usually done by 11 a.m.

Lot’s of family activities as well. Manteo, Duck—after the parade, and the Whalehead Club feature all day events geared toward families.

Of course the 4th of July is all about fireworks and there are lots of them. The Whalehead Club is always spectacular. For visitors going to Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head, put a blanket on the beach halfway between Avalon Pier in KDH and Nags Head Pier in Nags Head and watch both shows at once.

Jockey’s Ridge State Park is also a great place to check out the fireworks—Manteo and Nags Head are visible from the top of the ridge.
