Outer Banks Attractions:

Looking for something else to fill your time between soaking up the rays and bodysurfing in the waves? You're in luck. Whether it's outdoor adventure; world-class shopping, spa-pampering and dining; or taking in the historical and natural sights of the Outer Banks, you'll find there are more than enough activities to keep everyone in your family entertained.

From water sports to golfing, the sporty set will find the Outer Banks to be a perfect playground. Kayak along the Sound's reedy shoreline; speed through the waves on a jet ski; take a kiteboarding or surfing lesson from local pros; soar high above the water in a parasail; or cast a line into the Atlantic and catch your evening's meal. Need a break from the beach? Tee off at one of the area's many public golf courses. Worried that your kids will go stir-crazy? They'll love the skate park and bumper cars in Corolla, and the laser tag center in Nags Head.

While you're here, you'll want to treat yourself to a day on the town. You'll find unique, locally-owned shops filled with beachy treasures for your home and wardrobe. Browse the boutiques, and take home a little something special for yourself. Splurge on an afternoon at the spa with a pedicure, seaweed wrap and deep-tissue massage.. after all, it is vacation! Top off the day with dinner at one of the Outer Banks area's top-notch restaurants. Sip a glass of chardonnay and dine on fresh local seafood as you enjoy sunset over the Albemarle Sound.

Sightseeing on the Outer Banks is a fun and inexpensive way to spend the day. Take the kids to Jockey's Ridge, the East Coast's largest living sand dune, or to the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo where they can watch sharks swim, alligators prowl and get hands-on with rays in a touch-tank. Visit the grounds of the four Outer Banks lighthouses-Currituck Beach Lighthouse in Corolla, Bodie Island Lighthouse in Nags Head, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, and Ocracoke Lighthouse on Ocracoke Island. History buffs will enjoy touring The Whalehead Club in Corolla, The Wright Brothers Monument in Kill Devil Hills, or the Elizabeth II, a full-size replica of one of the ships that first sailed to the New World, in Manteo.

Whatever your pleasure, you'll find there's never a dull moment on the beautiful Outer Banks!
