Santa arrives for the Duck Yuletide Celebration. One of many Outer Banks holiday events.

Don’t let anyone tell you differently…fall and winter are great times to visit the Outer Banks. There is a great selection of homes available at very reasonable rates, the summertime crowds are mostly gone and there is still a lot to do.

We’ve put together a list of upcoming events just to give a taste of all there is to do for the next six weeks, but it’s a sure bet we’ve missed an event or two, so keep checking back with us and we’ll try to put the word out on events we may have missed.

A couple of events that have become highlights of the season:

The Outer Banks Marathon Weekend has something for everyone with everything from a one mile fun run to the Outer Banks Marathon. The Marathon is one of the most beautiful runs around beginning in the beauty of the maritime forest of Kitty Hawk Woods and ending on the Manteo waterfront.

Manteo’s tree lighting, December 2 is worth checking out; it is a wonderful celebration of small town life. Another tree lighting worth checking out is the Duck Yuletide celebration, which is more of a lighting of crab pots than a tree, but a great way to spend an afternoon.

Lots of running and races as well. Of course here at Brindley Beach Vacations, we’re particularly partial to the Thanksgiving Day 5K in Corolla because we sponsor it and it’s a great way to start your Thanksgiving Day.
