We have a couple of great shows coming to the Outer Banks over the next few days and both concerts are under the stars in what idea locations.
Tomorrow—Thursday—John Michael Montgomery takes the stage at the Outdoor Pavilion at Roanoke Island Festival Park and Sunday it’s Who’s Bad, a Michael Jackson Tribute band at the Lost Colony’s Waterside Theatre.
Bring a beach towel or a lawn chair and kick back and listen to Montgomery’s mellow resonant voice. Definitely country music, but his style owes much more to the traditions of classic country than the heavily produced sounds that are coming out today.
The weather forecast for Thursday evening looks near perfect with an occasional cloud and not rain in sight.
Sunday night at the Lost Colony is high energy and great choreography. Who’s Bad has been touring for years and widely considered the best Michael Jackson Tribute band around.
Lead singer and almost Michael Jackson lookalike has a remarkable musical resume including a background in jazz and classical—but what he really brings to the stage is an understanding of Jackson’s music and choreography.
The band touring with Who’s Bad has been together for a number of years and the they are tight and a great part of the show.
Waterside Theatre is as close to a perfect place to see an outdoor show as there is. The sound is captured by the amphitheater design of the seating area and the sound system is the same system used for Lost Colony performances.
The weather is looking good for this one too.
