Learn how to make gourmet popsicles at Zen Pops in Kitty Hawk.
With the Outer Banks Taste of the Beach just a week away, time is getting short to sign up for events. A couple of the more popular ones are already fill up but there are still a lot of great happenings available.
Here are a couple of different ones we came across.
Pairing Olive Oil & Food: Olive Oil as a Spice at the Outer Banks Olive Oil Company in KDH. They’re offering the class on Thursday and Friday. It’s an olive oil tasting as well as a cooking demo. Definitely different.
For would be bartenders, check out Bartending 101 at Aqua in the Town of Duck on Friday from 2:30-3:30. Aqua has one of the best bars on the Outer Banks and mixing a little learning with a few drinks and, as they say in their blurb, “some tasty nibbles” it should be an event to savor.
Chrystal Swain, owner of Zen Pops, creates some of the best popsicles imaginable. Her Popsicle Making CHOPPED-style!! on Saturday is imaginative and sounds like a lot of fun.
She’ll teach participants how to make popsicles then turn it into a Food Network Chopped competition. Everyone gets a basket of fruits, herbs, spices and who know what and has to turn it into a popsicle.
Then on Sunday, Check out Let’s Make Bread and Have Lunch! at Bonnie’s Bagels in Southern Shores. Knead the dough, let it rise and as it’s rising have a sandwich, drink, and dessert from Bonnie’s kitchen.
The TOB runs from Thursday through Sunday, but the whole week is filled with lots to do, starting with Mike Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday.
