Jubilee Music holds an open mic for musicians every Thursday.

The entertainment and fun times don’t end on the Outer Banks just because it’s winter. Sure, there’s not nearly as much to do now as there is in the summer, but there’s still some pretty cool things happening.

One of the really cool things that’s a regular part of the Outer Banks music scene are two open mic opportunities. On Wednesdays it’s open mic at Art’s Place on the Beach Road in Kitty Hawk. The next night Jubilee Music in Seagate North in Kill Devil Hills.

There’s also a monthly open mic reading that the Dare County Arts Council sponsors at Glenn Eure’s Ghost Fleet Gallery. Usually the second Thursday of the month, although the March open mic may be moved to a different date.

Across the Wright Memorial Bridge at Sanctuary Vineyards, the live entertainment is happening with Friday Night Live at 5:30.

Special treat this weekend its Cajun Occassion on Saturday. Get your beads and be ready to put on your Mardi Gras finest.

And…every Saturday evening, the Outer Banks Brewing Station has some great live music. That’s not a bad combination. Wonderful beer, tasty food and great music.

A Bit of Cultural Entertainment

Beginning Friday night the Theatre of Dare begins its two weekend run of Mame. Friday and Saturday evenings and a Sunday matinee. The Theatre of Dare does an outstanding job with all of its productions, so if you’re on the Outer Banks don’t miss this one.

Looking a bit farther into the future, at the end of the month the Virginia Symphony will be performing at the First Flight High School Auditorium on February 29. A cooperative effort between the Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts and the Bryan Cultural Series, the full symphony will be making the journey so this should be a really exciting evening.

Finally, every Saturday evening, the Outer Banks Brewing Station has some great live music. That’s not a bad combination. Wonderful beer, tasty food and great music.

There are so many reasons to visit the Outer Banks we can’t list them all. Spend some time with use at Brindley Beach Vacations and create your own list.
