Watermelon seed spitting contest at OBX Watermelon Festival.
Now that full summer is here, July 4 is past us and the weather is summertime perfect, the Outer Banks comes alive with a full slate of activities for the whole family. We can’t possibly list everything, but here is just a taste of what’s coming.
Faire Days-Duck Town Green, Scarborough
Every Wednesday through August, Duck is the place to be with a magic show in the morning on the town green and live music, crafts for kids, games and much more at Scarborough Faire in the afternoon.
Huck Finn-Roanonke Island Festival Park, Indoor Theatre
July 15-17
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke's Summer Theatre Workshop brings Mark Twain's classic Huck Finn to life. Huck’s journey of self-discovery as he floats down the Mississippi is particularly relevant today.
Movies on the Sound-Duck Town Green
Every Friday evening during the summer, the Outer Banks Children at Play Museum sponsor a movie on the sound. The lineup of the next three weeks is wonderful and Duck is the beneficiary.
July 17 Surf’s Up
July 24 Princess Bride (A must-see on the big screen)
July 31 Wreck it Ralph
37th Annual Wright Kite Festival-Wright Brothers Memorial, Kill Devil Hills
July 18-19
Two days of kite demos, kite making for kids, and kite displays. A great event for the whole family. Sponsored by Kitty Hawk Kites.
OBX Watermelon Festival-Kitty Hawk Kites, Nags Head
