The first night of the 6th Annual Outer Banks International Halloween Film Festival has come and gone, but Friday and Saturday still lots lot to see.

Films from all over the world are being screened—Peru, the United Kingdom, Dubai, and of course the United States. And that’s just a sampling of the countries that are sending film to Matt and Sue Artz, the producers of the festival.

If you have a chance, check it out. The Halloween Film Festival has movies—of course—and a lot of opportunities to talk with actors and directors.

All movies are screened at the R/C Theater in Kill Devil Hills.

Friday, Oct. 4


Da Capo (U.K.; 3 min.) – NORTH CAROLINA PREMIERE – A young woman practices alone at night, under the watchful gaze of her demon, in this short horror film about mental health and creativity.

Once Bitten… – (U.K.; 10 min.) – Martha needs the toilet fixed in her hotel bathroom but there’s one problem: her plumber may be a vampire.

Noctambulos (Night Owls) (Spain; 9 min.) – In the middle of the night, a group of teenagers practice skateboarding without notice that somebody is watching them from the shadows. One of the girls separates from the group to return home through the lonely streets of the city and someone follows her.

Wicken – (Dubai; 8 min.) – A young woman Skyping with her long distance boyfriend late night realizes that an ancient evil presence may have been unleashed upon her.

She Summoned Him (U.K.; 8 min.) – WORLD PREMIERE – A journalist finds herself interviewing a strange guest at a local hotel. As the interview progresses, the interviewee begins to reveal a deadly secret.


Halloween Cat (Animation; 4 min.) – A cat’s search for candy leads to a spooky encounter on Halloween night.

The Premonition (starring Betsy Baker; 5 min.) – It is Halloween night and the kiddies are out trick-or-treating when an unexpected guest comes a-knocking.

The Queen of Screams Presents: A Halloween Special (26 min.) – NORTH CAROLINA PREMIERE – You’re invited to Malvolia’s Annual Halloween Party! 5 lucky victims attend and, reluctantly, are put to the test to save their lives. Will anyone win? With a special intro from Malvolia, the Queen of Screams!

2:45 – Ghost Poachers (8 min.) – WORLD PREMIERE – A team of paranormal enthusiasts, the Ghost Poachers, investigate the infamous Fort Wetherill in Jamestown, Rhode Island, where they discover an entity that’s been waiting for visitors like them. [MATURE]
