First week in November so it must be the Outer Banks Restaurant Week . . . sort of an autumn warmup for annual Taste of the Beach coming up March 19-22 next year.
Certainly a very different format than the Taste of the Beach with its layers of cooking classes, wine and beer tasting events and multiple competitions, the Restaurant Week focuses on what individual chefs and restaurants can do.
There are 20 restaurants participating this year from Rodanthe to Duck and the premise is simple—three course meals, either $20 or $35. Some businesses are offering both the prices on menu; others just one or the other.
New this year—there is a Fish Taco Cookoff at the Sea Ranch in Kill Devil Hills. It was supposed to be Saturday but the weather is looking pretty bad tomorrow—strong winds, driving rain . . . a typical nor’easter. It’s been moved to Sunday, 12-3. Should be fun.
Unfortunately that time and does conflict with Ocean Boulevard’s Shrimp Cookoff which is a benefit for the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research.
Go to both. The food will be great.
