The Flying Pirate Half Marathon has come and gone . . . they ran it yesterday, Sunday. It’s a beautiful course, following the first half of the Outer Banks Marathon. The weather was about as perfect as weather could be for a distance run, with 7:00 a.m. temperatures hovering around 60 and a light breeze.

Some great costumes passed by–a personal favorite was the pirate and parrot jogging side by side pictured here.

This coming weekend is the Nags Head 5K. The course is actually part of the Pirate Half Marathon and Outer Banks Marathon–and it might be the most beautiful part of those races.

Things are really picking up now that the weather is improving.

Up at the Whalehead Club in Corolla there are two events that visitors may wish to know about.

Sunday, May 18, the 3rd Annual Mustang Spring Jam will be rocking the grounds of the Club. Mike Dianna, of Mike Dianna’s Grill Room in TimBuck II who is sponsoring it, always puts on a great show and this year is no exception. Headliner Ben Miller Band blew everyone away when they performed last year, so it’s pretty exciting having them come back again.

It’s a benefit for the Corolla Wild Horse Fund so it’s all for a good cause.

Two weeks later (almost) on Saturday, May 25–Buck’s Beach Blast. A day of beach music with some great names in the sound performing, including the Rondels–one of the first groups with the beach music sound.
