Rhonda Vincent and the Rage in concert at the Outer Banks Bluegrass Festival.

Summer is winding down but don’t worry there is still lots to do on the Outer Banks.  The worst of the summer heat seems to be abating—and yes even for our North Carolina sensibilities this was a hot one—and the weather in September is almost alway as close to perfect as it gets.

There is something for all tastes on the upcoming event and entertainment calendar—great music, outdoor activities, events of for kids . . . it’s all covered.

A cultural event that is sure to be a little different is the Surf and Sounds Chamber Music Series, sponsored by the Don and Catharine Bryan Cultural Series this Tuesday through Friday. Yes, it is classical music, but the settings are perfect for chamber music and these are truly world-class musicians.

On the other end of the music spectrum, check our ZoSo, The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience at Roanoke Island Festival Park September 3.

Runners there’s lots of opportunity. For something a little easier and a very pleasant run, check out our Brindley Beach Vacations Lighthouse 5K on Wednesdays. For the more serious runners and athletes, take a look at the Outer Banks Triathlon September 17 and 18.

For the kids—and the whole family, the Dare County Arts Council’s Artrageous is a perfect day celebrating the joy and creativity of being a child. Really worth checking out—September 24 at Rec Park in Kill Devil Hills.
