Surf & Sound in performance at the Duck Amphitheater.

Looking for something different to do this coming week? Check out the Fourth Annual Surf and Sounds Chamber Music Series presented by The Bryan Cultural Series.

Five internationally acclaimed musicians, will perform four free concerts beginning Tuesday, August 21 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Southern Shores at 7:30 p.m.

That followed by a Wednesday performance at the Town of Duck Amphitheater, at 6:30. then  Cape Hatteras Secondary School on Thursday, and wrapping up their tour of the Outer Banks with a Friday evening performance at the Dare County Arts Council Gallery in Manteo at 7 p.m.

The level of performance that these musicians bring to the stage is astonishing. All five member of the quintet individually recognized international performers and hearing them play together truly elevates the experience for the audience.

Although we probably shouldn’t be playing favorites, the outdoor performance scheduled for the Duck Amphitheater is the one we would really recommend. They have not published what they are going to be performing, but if the past is any indication, hearing music played at the level they present is marvelous.

Second choice would be the Dare County Arts Council in Manteo. There is something about that setting that seems to lend itself to a great listening experience.

Next up for the Bryan Cultural Series—and mark the calendar for this one—will be La Traviata presented in cooperation with Elizabeth R and Company on September 15. The performance will be at First Flight High School and it’s free…that’s right free.
