Winter Lights at Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island is back. It’s been a crazy year, but there is something so right about once again strolling through the wonderland of the Elizabethan Gardens, illuminated by tens of thousand of lights.
It’s the 10th Annual Winter Lights, so maybe it had to happen. Still, at a time when so many things seem to be curtailed or not even happening, to to have the chance to spend some time outside in such a beautiful setting is wonderful.
The event has always been popular with our winter visitors and Outer Banks residents. For those who have not been there, Winter Lights is the Elizabethan Gardens festival of lights. With lights shining from the trees and plants and light sculpture along the paths, Christmas lights become art.
The night is truly illuminated by the beauty of the displays. Christmas is traditionally a time of hope and rebirth, and lighting the night sky during a difficult time seems a glorious reminder of what the season means.
