We write a lot about holiday traditions on the Outer Banks—the Christmas Tree lighting in Manteo, Holiday Lights at the Elizabethan Gardens—but there is one tradition we seem to have overlooked even though it’s been around for some time.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, December 8 for the 33rd Annual Starving Artist Christmas Party. It’s going to be held this year at Cozy Kitchens on Kitty Hawk Road in Kitty Hawk.
The Starving Artists Party is one of those events that locals know about, mostly through word of mouth, but all are most certainly welcome.
What it is is a wonderful collection of local artists and crafter coming together for a couple of hours to show off their wares and hopefully make a few sales for the Christmas season.
There is bound to be something there for just about everyone. Red Dawn is sponsoring the party this year and she is a remarkably talented artist. The idea began with Vic and Ellen Berg back in the 1980s and Vic, along with celebrating his 40th year as a hunting guide, is also very skilled bird carver.
Those are just two of the people that we know will be there. With the range of local artists on hand there is sure to be something for everyone
And there’s more…
What really makes the Starving Artists Party a party and special, is a number of the artists bring homemade goodies to the show—and there is inevitably some wonderful food. things like bear chili and lots of cookies.
It makes for a great day and a lot of fun. Worth checking out. Click here to learn more about our Holiday Rentals in Outer Banks!
