Face painting at Artrageous.

Today was about as perfect a spring day as there could be on the Outer Banks. Bright sunshine, a nice breeze, a little bit warm but not too warm. The perfect day to be out and about, and that is what a lot of people were doing.

Nags Head was certainly the place to be today with lots happening. At the Nags Head Soundside Site it was Woofstock. Hosted by Elizabethan Gardens, the Outer Banks SPCA and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, it was a day of dog crazy costumes and lots of fun. it’s a two day event, so still plenty of time to check it out on Sunday.

At Dowdy Park the Dare County Arts Council was hosting Artrageous.

Artrageous is one of the most fun events on the Outer Banks calendar. It’s all about getting kids involved in art, and the whole day is really geared toward showing kids how much fun art can be.

There’s face painting, a whole wall where anyone can draw anything they want, games, demos…just a wonderful day.

Mother’s Day Weekend has become sort of the introduction to our Outer Banks peak season. It’s not quite as busy as it’s going to be, but it give a good indication of what is coming. Based on what we saw today, the summer looks to be one of the best yet.

Don’t forget…tomorrow is Mother’s Day! There’s lots to do for Mom. A great way to start the day is with a brunch and there are so many restaurants offering something special for Mom that we can’t list them all. Click here and check out our awesome short term rentals in Outer Banks!
