Now that the New Year is upon us, it’s time to make our fearless Brindley Beach Predictions for 2015. Some whacky, some true, some mostly true.
They’ll be lots of discussion about what to do about weekend congestion in southern Currituck County and Southern Shores. Very little if anything will be implemented because a.) some of the ideas are probably not legal; b.) the best concepts are too expensive and complex; and c.) by the time “b” would be implemented the Mid Currituck Bridge will have been built rendering the whole discussion irrelevant.
Construction will begin on the replacement for the Bonner Bridge by the end of the year. As predictions go, this is a bit iffy, but there is a good possibility it will happen since NCDOT and the Southern Environmental Law Center are actively negotiating to avoid more court time.
Google Maps will identify the access road to the right of the outbound Wright Memorial Bridge as an alternate route off the Outer Banks. When asked about the mistake a Google spokesperson will say, “Well there was a bridge there once.”
The Town of Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Dare County will finalize their inter local agreements to fund beach nourishment and what may be the largest locally financed nourishment project will get underway. This is a pretty safe prediction since the idea has widespread support.
The Outer Banks will experience the best year it’s ever had with more visitors coming to enjoy a week or two or more of sunshine, beautiful scenery and gracious hospitality. This is also a fairly safe prediction—the Outer Banks boasts lots of summer sunshine, it is a beautiful place to live and work and we genuinely enjoy welcoming visitors to our towns.
Since this is a very safe prediction, it might also be a good idea to call us at Brindley Beach Vacations to make that summer reservation.
