Fireworks over the Whalehead Club, Corolla.

There’s a full lineup of Independence Day celebration this weekend on the Outer Banks. Withe the 4th falling on Saturday, there’s something happening Friday and Saturday.

Here’s what’s happening:

Town of Duck Parade, Friday, 7/3, 9:00 a.m.

An amazing and fun parade and a great way to kickoff the the celebration of our nation’s birthday. The parade route avoids NC12, but traffic is tied up the whole time because so many people march or just show up. The town of Duck holds one of the wackiest and most wonderful Independence Day parades anywhere.

Whalehead Club Fireworks: July 3, 6:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m.

One of the most popular firework displays on the Outer Banks and for good reason. A beautiful setting, a fair-like atmosphere perfect for families and it all starts at 6:00 p.m. Live music, food, a great time and a fantastic show.

Kill Devil Hills, Avalon Pier/Nags Head, Nags Head Pier: Fireworks: July 4, Dusk

We’re putting these two together because they occur at the same time with the show over the Atlantic Ocean. They’re only about 5.5 miles apart, so a strategically placed beach chair could allow simultaneous viewing.

Manteo, Street Fare, Fireworks: July 4, all day

It’s like something from a Norman Rockwell painting. The street fair fills up the street surrounded by a beautiful small town setting. The fireworks at night over Shallowbag Bay are breathtaking.
