The Duck Jazz Festival coming up next weekend is the perfect example of why fall on the Outer Banks is so special.
It’s outdoors, the setting is spectacular, the music is always amazing and it’s free. That is about as perfect as it gets.
The Festival has evolved into a two day affair, although the main event is still on Sunday. Held Columbus Day Weekend every year the first act takes the stage at 11 at the Amphitheater and the headliner gets things going at 5:00 p.m.
Kicking things off on Saturday this year should be a real treat with local musical wizard Andrew Sanchez & His Hip Six Community. A few years ago when Sanchez graduated from First Flight High School, he took home just about every musical award there was. That was followed by a stellar academic career in music at ECU. And now he’s back.
The Leroy Jones Quintet is New Orleans Jazz—unapologetically New Orleans jazz. And oh, is it wonderful.
In between the opening act—from Raleigh the Sidecar Social Club with their jazz lounge sound and strong vocals, there is a day of amazing music on top.
Whether the performance is under the trees of the Amphitheater or the Duck Village Town Green, it is tough to imagine a better place to listen to music and just enjoy the day.
Pack a lunch..bring a bottle wine… and plan on spending the day listing to great music at the Duck Jazz Festival.
The Duck Jazz Festival is just one of so many things to do on the Outer Banks in the fall. Spend a week with us at Brindley Beach Vacations, and see why we love autumn on the Outer Banks so much.
