One of the best parts of coming to the Outer Banks is how many things there are for kids to do. From Manteo to Corolla, there are events geared toward the younger set but almost always with a little extra thrown in for Mom and Dad.
Rather than write a long description about everthing that’s coming, we thought it might be nice to list some of the upcoming events for kids. This is by no means a complete list—just a guide to what there is out there.
Waterside Theatre, Lost Colony-How I Became a Pirate
Performed in the Soundstage Theatre, which is air conditioned, the actors of the Lost Colony have been performing this play for over 40 years. Still fresh and wonderful.
Tuesday and Wednesdays at 2p.m. June 16 – August 19. Tickets are $10.
Roanoke Island Festival Park, Manteo
Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday through the beginning of August, the RIFP puts on a children’s theater at 10:30 a.m. in the Indoor Theater. Fun and funny, it’s a fun time for parents and kids. Admission is $5, under 5 is free.

Kid’s Day, Kitty Hawk Kites
This may be the oldest event specifically geared toward kids on the Outer Banks. Face painting, kite making, yoyo demonstrations and a lot of laughter.
