Whalehead Club in Corolla. One of our favorite places for a picnic.

The Outer Banks weather was so nice today that we couldn’t help but think of summer, and when thinking of summer it’s natural to think of picnics and family time or time with someone special.

To help the picnic plans along, we’ve picked out five easy to get to picnic places on the Outer Banks. There are of course many many more than this, some pretty difficult to get to. Run Hill with its panoramic view of Buzzard Bay and Albemarle Sound is spectacular but it involves a half mile trek over sand dunes or a mile and a half trail through Nags Head Woods. Well worth it for the adventurous, but there are easier places to get to.

Brindley Beach Vacations List of Easy to Get To Picnic Area

The Beach

We had to list the beach. Easy to find. Head east. When you get to the Atlantic Ocean you’re there.

Whalehead Club

A beautiful setting. Wide, expansive lawn with plenty of shade. A perfect setting for a picnic.

Duck Boardwalk/Duck Town Park

With plenty of seats along the boardwalk, there is sure to be the ideal spot to sit and enjoy a meal with someone special. If the whole family is there, probably better to go the Duck Town Park. Forgot to pack a lunch? Plenty of places on the boardwalk to get a bite to eat.

Kitty Hawk Skate Park

Don’t let the name throw you. The setting is very nice and there’s a covered picnic area. There is also a dog park on the site as well.

Nags Head Park

415 Health Center Drive

A gem of a little park. Includes a covered picnic area with trails that connect directly to Nags Head Woods.
