All you can eat fresh steamed oysters at the Big Curri-Shuck at Sanctuary Vineyards.
There are some annual events that we have really come to love and high on that list has got to be the Big Curri-Shuck at Sanctuary Vineyards next to the Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg. Every year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving—that would be November 25 this year—I Got Your Crabs in Kitty Hawk teams up with Sanctuary Vineyards to put on a fantastic steamed oyster fest.
The concept is simple…they steam them you eat them. As many as you want…oysters and as long as it lasts, crab. There is also some local barbecue on hand.
To drink? Well, that’s pretty good to. Wine from Sanctuary Vineyards and there are always a couple of local breweries on hand.
Great music too, which really helps the day along. This year its local country rock band Croatan Highway sharing the stage with the country sounds of Chesepeake’s Dave Cynar Band.
Steamed oysters, crab, wine and beer doesn’t sound like it’s a kid-friendly affair, but the Cotton Gin—Sanctuary Vineyards is part of the family—prides itself in making sure everyone is welcome. There are always hayrides for the kids and other activities.
Things kick off at noon and keep going until 5:00 p.m. Tickets are limited though, so be sure to get some as soon as possible.
Tickets are available at Sanctuary Vineyards, all Cotton Gin Stores and I Got Your Crabs.
