The first set of numbers are in and our eyes and the heavy August traffic was what we thought it was, and it appears as though the Outer Banks has just had the best summer for visitation ever.
It all comes with a cautionary note—the visitation figures we’re reviewing come from the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau and does not include information from Corolla. However, Duck and Southern Shores posted some of the strongest gains of any of the towns reporting, and if that northern trend continues it’s a pretty sure thing that Corolla also had a very strong summer.
Particularly good news for our Brindley Beach homeowners, rental homes was one of the areas that showed the strongest growth, and August in particular was a very strong month—by far the strongest August on record.
We have no way of knowing this soon after the September ends, but there has been a general feeling that September was also a good month and with a full slate of activities planned through October and even into November, there is a good possibility that the strength in property management we’re seeing will continue throughout the fall shoulder season.
Speaking of events—this weekend has a full slate on tap with the 22nd Annual Parade of Homes Thursday through Sunday, the Mustang Music Festival on Friday and Saturday and the Duck Jazz Festival on Sunday.
