As the Outer Banks gears up for summer there are always some new businesses coming along that catch our attention 2017 is no exception.

A quick survey of what’s happening on the restaurant scene reveals a newcomer to the frozen yogurt scene and an well-respected chef renewing his love affair with classic American food.

Single Fin

For years Chef Pok Choeichom was the genius behind the outstanding cuisine the Outer Banks Brewing Station served with their beer. Good enough to warrant a visit from Guy Fieri and the Triple D crew back in 2013.

A year later Pok opened his own place in Kitty Hawk—Pok’s Art with his brother Art. Their Asian fusion food is excellent and worth checking out. But now it looks as though Chef Pok is going back to his Brewing Station roots.

Single Fin, his full service restaurant in Nags Head should be open mid May although grand openings often fall behind schedule.

With a full bar and a menu featuring classic American and European cuisine, the restaurant should be a great addition to the Outer Banks bistro scene. There will also be a sushi bar.

The address is 2424 S. Croatan Highway in Nags Head.

OBX Frozen Yogurt

Jeff Schwartzenberg who has been the marketing manager for Kitty Hawk Kites for three years, mentioned to us once that he always dreamed of having an ice cream shop.

His dream is coming true, his work schedule is going to be pretty demanding since he’s going to continue at KHK.

He’ll be moving OBX Frozen Yogurt from the Shoreside Shopping Center next to the Kitty Hawk Harris Teeter to Southern Shores Crossing.

With an additional 600 square feet of space he’s growing the inventory and bringing in craft sodas, toppings for the yogurt and other goodies.

Situated between two restaurants—Coastal Provisions and Steamers—he should have the perfect location to satisfy after an after dinner sweet tooth.
