The Outer Banks FunFair–the view from the Ferris Wheel.
Just in time to kick off the beginning of summer—the 3rd Annual Soundside FunFair comes to the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head. Look for it running full tilt through Wednesday, June 20. Gates open at 5:00 and everything closes up at 11.
It’s an old-fashioned traveling carnival complete with games where there never seems to be a big winner, funnel cakes and cotton candy and some really fun rides.
The Outer Banks prides itself in being a family oriented vacation destination, and the FunFair is about as family oriented as it gets—and that seems to be a lot of what makes it so special.
It is, of course, all about kids having a great time, but there is something about watching kids have so much fun that brings out the child in parents as well.
There is no admission to get in, although to ride anything tickets must be purchased…and yes, from experience we know it’s a good idea to take a little more than planned. But it’s all worth it. The kids have a great time, and for at least a little while they’re just like kids have always been—laughing and loving live and not even worrying about a cell phone.
Children and Youth Partnership of Dare County sponsors the fair, so the proceeds are supporting an important and very worthy cause.
