There is no way to adequately describe the Outer Banks Wedding Expo. Held every year over MLK Weekend, it is an extraordinary testament to the national–and probably international–appeal of the Outer Banks as a wedding destination.
It’s a two day event that this year brought together 180 Outer Banks businesses that know what weddings are all about. It’s a lot of walking, a lot of talking, there are a lot of people–this year estimates were 1200-1300 visitors, but when all is said and done, it’s a lot of fun.
Probably because just about every caterer on the Outer Banks shows up and it’s a sure bet they’re bringing their best. We’re not even going to try to pick a favorite, but for anyone who enjoys barbecue pork, beef brisket or shrimp and grits . . . after sampling numerous offerings (solely in the interests of research) . . . it would be hard to go wrong.
The event is more than just food, though. It really is about finding the right resources for an upcoming wedding or event, and there is a lot of effort that goes into that. Brindley Beach was there, of course. Tracy Seal, who is our Vacation Specialist was there for both days, felt the 2014 version was better than last year’s.
She’s probably right–although the bookings typically come in over the next few weeks or months in response to the show.
