There is something for everyone on the Outer Banks this weekend—the Outer Banks Bike Week begins Saturday and Sunday it’s the Flying Pirate Half Marathon. It looks like the roads will be filled either with runners or bikers.
The weather is looking pretty good for the bikers this week. Monday their may be some rain, but other than that, things look about as good as they get. This is the 13th Annual Outer Banks Bike Week, and the event has become one of the largest spring gatherings around. Lots of poker runs, a couple of day trips down to Hatteras, product tents set up everywhere and some great live music.
The Flying Pirate Half Marathon has become a spring time ritual for a lot of runner. Following the first half of the Outer Banks Marathon course, the track goes through some of the most beautiful parts of the Outer Banks. An old growth maritime forest greets runners in Kitty Hawk, the course then finds its to the shores of Kitty Hawk Bay, around the Wright Brothers Monument then passing through Nags Head Woods on the way to the finish line.
It’s looking like a great week and a great weekend on the Outer Banks.
