Ruth Wyand and the Band of One in performance.

Free concerts and a beautiful setting…it doesn’t get much better than that, and that is what’s on tap with Soundside Live Sunset Concert Series. Sponsored by the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, and held at the Nags Head Event Site, there are some special evenings of music lined up.

The first one was this past Thursday, but there are two more on the upcoming Thursdays, June 1 and June 8 and the lineups are outstanding.

June first it’s a mix of the driving country rhythms of Cris Jacobs the classic electric blues sound of Selwyn Birchwood and local musician Ruth Wyand and the Band of One.

With Ruth, don’t let the title “local musician” pigeonhole her into the realm of only good enough for the small time. Ruth has won a number of competitions for her bluesy finger picking style coupled with a powerful voice.  There are very few professional musicians on guitar or vocals than Ruth.

Jume 8 brings keyboardist Marco Benevento to the stage with a touch of jazz, rock and maybe a little bit of classical thrown into the mix.

Also taking the stage will be Ripe…great vocals with a hip moving funky beat.

Rounding out the evening will be Fireside Collective. Traditional bluegrass, but done right with a couple of twists thrown if from time to time.

This is a great opportunity to hear some excellent bands in beautiful outdoor setting. Plan to be there.

A quick note for our Brindley Beach friends who will be coming to visit later this summer—our new Corolla offices will open for checkin on Saturday, June 10. It’s been two years since our original offices burned down and we can’t wait to get in our new building.
