It’s a cold and windy March day on the Outer Banks, and certainly nothing like the summer. The wind is steady at 15-20 mph with a few higher gusts. Every once in a while clouds spit some rain, although now that night has fallen, the rain seems to have subsided.
Maybe it was a good thing that the Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade was cancelled.
It has never been cancelled before, but..well, this is an exceptional year and exceptional time. The Outer Banks is an amazing place to live, work and visit, a place that feels at once safe and a little removed from the hustle and bustle of day to day life.
But sometimes what is happening beyond the Wright Memorial Bridge does find its way to us and so, like the rest of the country, we’re a bit hunkered down right now.
There’s a lot of living at home right now and not going out quite as much as usual.
Luckily, though, there are some great takeout places on the Outer Banks.
