On the Outer Banks, life is pretty much back to normal. All of our roads and bridges are open, what little evidence of Hurricane Florence’s passage was has been cleaned up and there’s lots to do this coming week.
There has been a little bit of rescheduling.
The ESA (Eastern Surf Association) Eastern Championships has been moved back two day, so it will be starting on Tuesday instead of Sunday. It does shorten the event by two days, but organizers have worked out a schedule that should work. Much of the delay is to allow competitors south of the track Hurricane Florence took a chance to get to the Outer Banks.
Surfing is definitely an important part of the theme for the upcoming week. The Dare County Arts Council will be sponsoring the annual Surfalorus Film Festival for the sixth time. There are always some great shorts and feature length films in the three day event.
By all means, check out Outer, an hour long film by Manteo High School Senior Logan Marshall. The movie will be screened Saturday evening at the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills. It is a remarkably well made movie, and that Logan is a high school senior is only incidental to the quality.
The weekend is so filled with events, that it’s not going to be possible to get to everything. So…our suggestion is do what can be done, but be sure to check out CrabDaddy at Sanctuary Vineyards in Jarvisburg. It’s a day of crab, wine, beer and music. Hard not to like that.
