Southern Culture on the Skids. Live at Shred Fest, Saturday, May 20.

Always looking to give our Brindley Beach friends a heads up on what’s happening on the Outer Banks, we’re putting the word our on the music scene for next weekend. That’s Saturday and Sunday May 20 and 21.

Two great days—and these are all day events—of music will fill the weekend with great sounds and some amazing bands.

The weather is looking great for the weekend, so plan on being on the Outer Banks for some great music and a great time.

Shred Fest

First up for the weekend on Saturday it’s Shred Fest at the Nags Head Event Site on Roanoke Sound.

A fundraiser for Dare 2 Care, an organization providing funding for Outer Banks veterans and special needs communities, this is a day filled with skateboards and music…and the best of the music has got to be Southern Culture on the Skids.

S.C.O.T.S. is a remarkably talented group of musician who never lose sight of how much fun music should be. People who have seen them before will break the gates down to see them again. For anyone who has never seen them, the group is a bucket list item.

Mustang Music Spring Jam

As Mike Dianna regroups from the disaster Hurricane Matthew wreaked on his fall Mustang Music Festival, he proves he has not lost his touch for music promotion with his Mustang Music Spring Jam.

The headliners are Big Soul with a funky kind of jazz sound and the hard rock sound of London Soul.

It’s a whole day of some great music but what sets Mustang Music really apart is it’s a whole day of continuous music—two stages, one set finishes and the next starts immediately.

Great local bands too, including Zack Mexico, Graham Outten’s new band The Ramble and the kids of Ruth Ryand’s Mustang Music Outreach kicking things off.
