If there is a center of Corolla activities it has got to be the Whalehead Club. In our last blog we talked about the Lighthouse 5K every Wednesday morning throughout the summer.

The race includes breakfast on us—Brindley Beach Vacations is the race sponsor—so grab a bite to eat, have some fun but come back later in the afternoon for Whalehead Wednesdays.

Every Wednesday afternoon until September 12 it’s Whalehead Wednesday. There’s live music on the lawn of the Whalehead Club, wine tasting for the adults and lots to do for kids. The event starts at 3:00 p.m. And weekly cornhole tournament sponsored by Brindley Beach Vacations.

The only exception will by Wednesday, July 4, and that’s a day to plan on being at the Whalehead Club all day for a great time filled with rides, entertainment and what may be the best fireworks display on the Outer Banks.

One of our favorite Whalehead events is the Under the Oaks Arts Festival. That will be Tuesday and Wednesday, June 19 and 20.

An all day event, the grounds of the Whalehead Club will be filled with over 100 artists and crafters. There will be an art auction, plenty of local food vendors and plenty of children’s activities throughout the day.

The Under the Oaks Arts Festival is an all day affair—10:00 a.m, to 5:00 p.m.—and with so much for everyone to do, visitors find the time seems to fly by.

The Whalehead Club is on the grounds of Currituck Heritage Park. The Currituck Beach Lighthouse is immediately adjacent and the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education is on the grounds. The Center includes a very nice, small museum that is worth a visit.
