We admit it—here at Brindley Beach Vacations we happen to think the Outer Banks is the best place in the world for a vacation. Our point of view may be somewhat skewed because we live here and we’re in the vacation business, but 375,000 or 400,000 weekly visitors can’t all be wrong.
The problem, of course, is just about everyone shows up at the same time on weekends and the last 10 or12 miles before the Wright Memorial Bridge is sometimes not a very pleasant way to start your vacation.
However, there are a few suggestions we can make that may help.
Families with children, especially younger children, may wish to take advantage of our early check-in services. Standard check-in time is 4:00 p.m., but our early check-in begins at 1:00—that’s three extra hours to get the kids situated, scout the area and get ready for the week. It also means you’ll be heading into the Outer Banks before the major crush of traffic, making the trip much more relaxing.
Not all homes are available for early check-in, so if that is something your family feels would be helpful, discuss it with our agent.
Another suggestion–come early go to the beach, visit our shops and get your grocery shopping done before you check in. By heading to the super market a little earlier, you’ll avoid the crush of shoppers as they stock up for the week. . . a weekly occurrence which starts about 5:30 or 6:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.
These are just a couple of suggestions, but most importantly remember the Outer Banks is just over that rise in the bridge, the sand is soft, the ocean cool and refreshing and there is a week of sheer relaxation waiting.
