What a beautiful autumn day we had here on the Outer Banks today. A little bit breezy but not a cloud in the sky, temperatures in the high 60s. About as close to perfection as it gets.
It’s days like this that reminds our visitors and those of us lucky enough to live here, how special autumn on the Outer Banks really is. We can’t really gather too much inside right now, but in outdoor cafes and boardwalk tables families were gathered.
Admittedly it would not have been a very good idea to get in the ocean today. With the weather pattern that is setting up, though, it may be a dip in the Atlantic will be possible this coming week. The water temperatures are holding in the 70s and the air temperature is forecast to be mid to upper 70s with plenty of sunshine.
Surfers will probably have some action this week. There’s a system brewing south and east of Bermuda. It will probably be some kind of tropical system by tomorrow or Tuesday. The long-range forecasts don’t seem to bring it this way at all, but it should push some wave action our way.
Autumn Road Repairs Begin
Now that summer is passed, NCDOT has some fixing it wants to do on our roads. The really important one to know about is the intersection of US 158 and NC 12.
That’s the intersection that is the turnoff for Southern Shores, Duck and Corolla.
What they are going to be doing is milling and resurfacing the road. NCDOT estimates repairs will take two weeks.
We still have a lot of traffic on the Outer Banks—much more than normal for this time of the year. Please be aware that there may be some delays in that area.
We sure do wish you were here with us to enjoy this wonderful autumn weather. Check your calendar and make your reservations with Brindley Beach Vacations.
