For families lucky enough to be on the Outer Banks this weekend, the Kitty Hawk Kites Wright Kite Festival held at the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills on Saturday and Sunday is coming up and it’s a great event for everyone.

The Memorial is easy enough to find, but Saturday and Sunday it will be impossible to miss. Giant kites will fill the sky all day, and when the folks at Kitty Hawk Kites put up there giant kites, it can’t be missed.

It’s a wonderful family event. There are kite flying demos and lessons from 11-2:00, so for anyone who wants to try their hand at flying a stunt kite, this is a great opportunity. There will probably be some quad line kites on hand as well, so for more experienced flyers, it’s a great chance to try something different.

For kids there is kite making, and the kites really fly.

It will be two fantastic days at the Monument; visitors coming in on Saturday, stop by and check it out on Sunday. Leaving on Sunday? Give yourself a treat and check it out.

There is a $4/car fee to enter the park, although the festival itself is free.
