What do I need to be legally married on the Outer Banks?
A North Carolina marriage license. North Carolina does not require a blood test or physical exam.
Where do I get it?
Marriage licenses can be obtained from the Register of Deeds office in any North Carolina county. You do not have to get the license in the same county that you plan to get married in, unless that is the most convenient county for you. Local Register of Deeds offices are:

What do I need to bring?
The Register of Deeds offices in the state have different requirements for what you need to bring to get your license, so always call ahead!
Basic requirements include (but are not limited to) both the bride and groom appearing to get the license, Social Security Card and driver’s license or valid photo ID.
There may be additional requirements for those under the age of 21 or those who have been divorced previously.
Who can legally marry us?
