With a wonderful breeze from the south giving us a bright warm day of sunshine and great weather, today was a near perfect beach day.

We have certainly noticed that smell of ash and burning wood, even here along the shore in North Carolina. Nothing at all like what New York or Philadelphia are experiencing, but yesterday it was hazy and a little smoky.

But today, the breeze was from the south, and it blew any smoke that may have been in the air away. The sun came out and it was a spectacular day to be on the beach.

The ocean even cooperated and kept the surf manageable. Sure the surfers may not have liked it, but judging from how many families were on the beach and in the water, it was a great day.

We did have a hard rain tonight—the sun had sets everyone got their beach time in. This weather pattern is a bit crazy right now, so it’s not entirely clear if the rain will tamp that smoky air down.

However, if the forecast holds, we should have some spectacular days coming up. Bright sunshine and warm but not hot temperatures are forecast for the next three days. And what might really be the difference maker is what winds that there will be are forecast to be from the south.

We’ll cross our fingers and hope on that one.

It does look as though we’ve finally broken out of that overcast and drizzly pattern we seem to have gotten into through last week. Kind of on the cool side as well, making a day at the beach not as pleasant as we would like.

But today? Yes…this is the way it’s supposed to be and the reason so many people have come to love the Outer Banks.

There is something for everyone from Corolla to Hatteras Island when spending some time on the Outer Banks. Be sure to include Brindley Beach Vacations in your plans when visiting this sandbar by the sea.
