The Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is back on Sunday and we couldn’t be happier. After a two year hiatus because of COVID restrictions, the icon of all things parade-worthy on the Outer Banks is back.

There is really nothing quite like the Kelly’s St. Paddy’s parade. It is so quintessentially small town life and the Outer Banks that it could be a Norman Rockwell painting. There are firetrucks, maybe even a municipal garbage truck, people marching with dogs, two or three marching bands, probably even a unicyclist playing trumpet. It is to a remarkable degree, what is best about the Outer Banks.

There’s no pretension, no hoopla…just a really fun time.

It looks as though the weather is going to cooperate as well. The forecast on Sunday calls for sunshine and temperatures in the low 60s. The parade is on the Beach Road in Nags Head and experience has taught anyone with more than one parade under their belt, that a light jacket is a good idea that close to the ocean. But all things conserved it really does look as though it’s going to be a wonderful day.

It is a good idea to get to Nags Head a little early. Parking can be a problem with anywhere from 8000-10,000 people expected.

And more evidence that life is returning to the way it should be. The Outer Banks Taste of the Beach is coming up the following weekend. The Outer Banks version of the TOB is not like any of the similar events in cities. The Outer Banks way of doing things is to create a culinary and actual tour of the area with events, according to the schedule, happening from Jarvisburg at Sanctuary Vineyards to Lost Colony Brewing in Stumpy Point.

Should be a great time. Check out the Outer Banks Taste of the Beach for event and ticket information.

Always something fun happening on the Outer Banks. Come join us for a great time while staying in a Brindley Beach Vacations home.
