The best we can say about the weather today is that we got some much needed rain here on the Outer Banks. Not that is was a complete washout, because it wasn’t. In between the rain showers—sometimes downpours—the sun did come and it was really quite warm for a mid November day.

What we had to day was courtesy of Tropical System Nicole, now almost completely dissipated with the remnants racing to the northeast and out to sea.

The storm was really too far inland to have much impact on the Outer Banks. Rain, yes, and a few gusts of wind, but nothing even close to tropical force power.

When the rains let up this morning there was a nice gap in the weather that allowed everyone to get out and enjoy the day for a little bit. With all the birds and squirrels that seemed to be roaming about, it seems as though the humans weren’t the only species thinking about taking advantage of a break in the rain.

Veterans Day Weekend on the Outer Banks is always a time recall the sacrifice and bravery of our men and women in uniform—what they have accomplished in the past and what they continue to do today.

Dare Arts, used to be the Dare County Art Council, is holding their annual Veterans Week events. The highlight is the Veterans Writing workshop where professional writers work with veterans to get their thoughts and memories on paper.

There are other activities, of course, over the weekend. The Outer Banks Marathon and Half Marathon will be running early Sunday morning. Right now it looks as though most of that will be in a light rain. Not ideal, but not too bad.

The first events of the weekend, though, will be tomorrow morning—shorter runs and fun runs. The weather should be great for that.

The Outer Banks is a great place to be at any time of the year. Check us out this winter and experience a slower pace of life in this paradise by the sea while staying in a Brindley Beach Vacations home.
