We’ve got a heck of a weekend on top here on the Outer Banks. The big event is the 10th Annual Outer Banks Seafood Festival at the Nags Head Event Site. The gates open at 10:230 a.m. but the real happenings don’t begin until noon.

It is an amazing gathering of some of the very finest Outer Banks chefs creating some truly outstanding dishes.

It’s way more than that, though.

There is some great music on tap throughout the day. Some country, blue grass and some fantastic cover songs from the Main Event Band, which, of course is the headliner.

But the Outer Banks Seafood Festival is much more than great food and great music. It is really about celebrating a remarkable 200 year history of families creating a life from the harvest from sea. There are always a number of commercial fishermen on hand—women too…men and women have become part of the fishing tradition. It’s a great chance to talk to them about their experiences and what they feel they need to be successful.

In addition to the food, music and men and women who are part of the commercial fishing fleet, there is a huge craft fair as well.

Not in the mood for seafood? Or had enough of the crowd at the Nags Head Event Site? Head on over to the Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills for the Outer Banks Community Foundation 40th Anniversary Backyard Bash.

The Outer Banks Community Foundation was the brainchild of author and entrepreneur David Stick and actor And Griffith (yes, he really did live in Manteo). The organization is an umbrella nonprofit that has handed out over $10 million in grants and $2 million in scholarships over the years.

Should be a great time and the weather is looking fantastic.

Fall is one of the best time to be on the Outer Banks. Stop by for a visit and be sure to stay in a Brindley Beach Vacations home.
