If you are looking for the perfect Hatteras Island vacation home, look no further than The Mad Hatteras. Located one lot back from the oceanfront in Hatteras Village, this dog-friendly home has everything needed for a relaxing getaway. Take a dip in the private pool or kick back in the hot tub for rest and rejuvenation. Access the beach directly across the street via the sand path and prepare to spend your days taking it easy on the sandy shore. No matter what type of family fun you seek, The Mad Hatteras is the perfect place the whole family will want to return to for years to come.

Ground Level: Ground Level Amenities include a fully gated private pool with a hot tub, a park-style charcoal grill, an outside shower, a carport and driveway that accommodates up to 4 vehicles, and a luggage lift. Entering the home from the carport, you’ll find a den with a flat-screen TV, a mini refrigerator, an arcade game with numerous game options, and deck access. Enter bedroom #1, furnished with 2 Twin Bunk Sets. This level also has the use of the full hallway bathroom.

Mid Level: Take the stairs up to the mid-level, which provides access to three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Bedroom #2, is a Queen bedroom with a flat-screen TV, ocean-view deck access, and a private full bathroom. Bedroom #3 is furnished with a Queen bed and a flat-screen TV. Bedroom #4 has 2 Twin beds plus a flat-screen TV. Bedrooms #3 and #4 share the full hallway bathroom. Do not miss the convenient laundry closet with a washer and dryer.

Top Level: Finally, make your way up to the heart of the home, the cozy Great Room with high ceilings and coastal decor. The Great Room provides a flat-screen TV, ample seating, a sound bar, deck access with ocean views, and a dining area seating 10. The freshly updated kitchen makes cooking a breeze with stainless steel appliances, spacious granite countertops, and a breakfast bar seating 3. Lastly, you have bedroom #5, a King suite with a flat-screen TV, private deck access overlooking the pool, and a private bathroom with a luxurious soaking tub and a separate shower.

Extras: Private pool (30 x 15), hot tub, 6 TVs, WiFi sound bar, luggage lift, sun decks, covered decks, deck furniture, charcoal grill, mini-refrigerator, arcade game, books, games, fish cleaning table, and an outside shower. Private Pool is open from April – October

Linens and towels are provided all year. This home will provide sheets for all beds and the beds will be made except for sleep sofas, top bunks, and trundle beds in which case the sheets are provided. This home also provides 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth per person the house sleeps, 2 hand towels per full bathroom, 1 hand towel per half bathroom, and a bath mat for each shower or tub.

Advance Reservations in this property for a future year more than 51 weeks in advance are allowed. Current year guests are not offered first right of refusal. Reserve any available 2025 week and pay 10% within 10 days, 40% by December 15, and the remainder 30 days prior to arrival.

Booking: During the booking process you will be asked to enter a credit card number, nothing will be charged to this card. You will receive an email 24 hours after booking with instructions to log on to the guest web to electronically sign your lease agreement and make your advance payment. You will have 10 days to sign your lease agreement and pay your advance payment to avoid cancellation. We offer optional travel insurance that you can opt in or out of on your lease agreement. Your final payment will be due 30 days prior to arrival. Reservations booked within 45 days of arrival will have 72 hours to sign the lease agreement and submit payment in full.

We had such a great time Memorial Day Week. The place is sparkling clean, no scents at all despite being dog friendly. There is everything you could need in the kitchen in terms of cooking and the beach is literally at the end of the drive. It's very quite and feels pretty private. There is a good size fridge with ice maker and water dispenser and a good dishwasher which helps if you are doing a lot of cooking. (ps...if you don't trek food in, Food Lion in Avon is your best bet to for provisions- if you only need 1 or 2 things the Red and White grocery 3 minutes down the road was great).We used the pool and hot tub daily which as a nice alternative to the sandy beach. The view of the sound and ocean were lovely.With 12 people, it was nice to have 3 floors to spread out on...and 4 bathrooms! There was always enough hot water! The bed were very comfortable. You will be right by the car ferry to Ocracoke which is long but free. If you just want to go there and see the town, you might want to spend the money on the Express Ferry and take the trams to see the sights. We loved the little Book shop down the road near the Hatteras lighthouse! And there are many shops nearby. Mostly though, we just wanted to float in the pool, relax in the hot tub or do shelling by the ocean. Thanks for a great Experience!!!

Wonderful rental! Very well stocked kitchen for cooking! The luggage lift was great - will be a top item in future rentals!! The house layout was great for a large family. Proximity to the beach was about a block away and the access was a small trail through the dune - there is no deck or steps down to the beach. The pool and hot tub were very nice. Still a little cool for the pool but we enjoyed it the last couple of days. Nice furniture at the pool and on the decks. There were beach chairs available.
