"Weaver" is located at Mile Post 4 1/2. This rustic cottage offers an open sun deck with excellent ocean views and deck chairs. There is no home on the oceanfront in front of this property so you have direct access to the ocean and the beach, you just have to cross the beach road. Recent Upgrades included a NEW Kitchen! 

Ground Level: Parking for 2 cars, carport, clothesline and an outside shower. Laundry room with washer and dryer (no interior access to the mid level from laundry area).

Mid Level: Entry level. Great room with TV/DVD/VCR and deck access, dining area seating 7, kitchen area and a half bathroom. 2 Queen Bedrooms with TV, Bedroom with a Double Bed, Bedroom with 2 Singles and a full hall bathroom.

Extras: 3 TVs, excellent ocean views, deck furniture, sun deck, parking for 2 cars, high-speed wireless internet, ceiling fans, free long distance calling within the US, washer/dryer and an outside shower. No Smoking. DOGS WELCOME. Full week rentals only. Distance to Beach: 30'. Beds: 2 Queens, 1 Double, 2 Single Beds. House Address: 3730 N. Virginia Dare Trail, Kitty Hawk. Key Type: Keyless entry. CHECK IN LOCATION: 3719 N. Croatan Hwy., Kitty Hawk Office.

Linens and towels are NOT provided but can be rented for the week. Linen and towel rental will include sheets for all beds, 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth per person the house sleeps, 2 hand towels per full bathroom, 1 hand towel per half bathroom and 1 bath mat for each shower or tub. Linens can be requested as early as time of booking. Weekly cost: $200.00 not including tax or bed making service.

This property does NOT offer beach chairs or a grill.

Booking: During the booking process you will be asked to enter a credit card number, nothing will be charged to this card. You will receive an email 24 hours after booking with instructions to log on to guest web to electronically sign your lease agreement and make your advance payment. You will have 10 days to sign your lease agreement and pay your advance payment to avoid cancellation. We offer optional travel insurance that you can opt in or out of on your lease agreement. Your final payment will be due 30 days prior to arrival. Reservations booked within 45 days of arrival will have 72 hours to sign the lease agreement and submit payment in full.

The location was great, as there is a path to the beach, but it isn't a public access, so the beach in front of the house is not crowded. A great place to wind down and enjoy the ocean. A good value, too!

The house is dated, but serves the purpose as a beach house. There were 5 adults and we never found ourselves in each others way. Being directly across from beach access was very convenient!

Origin of the Name

The origin of the name Kitty Hawk is still a matter of local debate but most people agree that it’s a Native American name for this area meaning “a time or place to hunt geese.” The word originally appeared on English settlers maps in the early 1700’s as “Chickehawk” or “Chickahawk”. By the late 1700’s, old land deeds referred to these settlements as “Kittyhuk”, “Kittyhark”, “KittyHawk” and “Kitty Hawk”, which is how the local residents spell the name as we do today.

Most Hospitable People

When Orville and Wilbur Wright were looking for a site for their aviation experiments in 1900, a Kitty Hawk citizen, Mr. Tate, assured the Wrights in a letter that Kitty Hawk would provide the ideal location for their experiment. He also encouraged Wilbur: “If you decide to try your machine here and come, I will take pleasure in doing all I can for your convenience, success, pleasure and I assure you that you will find hospitable people when you come among us.” This tradition still lives on today in Kitty Hawk.
