You are here

There’s something special about Corolla that makes it feel far-removed from the rest of the world, and even the rest of the Outer Banks. Perhaps it’s the extra amount of time it takes to get here, as if those added miles take you farther away-beyond the ordinary-to the wonderful wild west of beaches. The salty breeze, the swaying sea oats, the wide, sandy shoreline… oh yes, this is a special place indeed and our Corolla NC rentals come with amazing amenities.

The privacy, the tranquility, the natural, unspoiled beauty of the beach… these are among the many reasons you’ll fall in love with Corolla. But your visit here doesn’t have to revolve around a sleepy beachfront hammock and frosty margarita (unless that’s what you want!); in fact, Corolla can be chock full of adventure, and at the same time close to your Corolla NC rentals. Water recreation is tops on the list of things to do here… there are jet ski and kayak rentals, parasailing, boat tours and surf lessons available. Cast a line and catch your evening’s meal straight out of the Atlantic, or take the kids crabbing in the shallow waters of the Currituck Sound. There are plenty of dry land activities, too, like tennis, golf, a skate park, a climbing wall, mini golf and go-carts. If you want to explore, cruise the beach in a four-wheel drive vehicle all the way to the Virginia state line. If you’re lucky, you just might encounter Corolla’s most beloved residents, the wild horses.

Corolla’s history is richly entangled with its nature and animals. The Whalehead Club, a sprawling mansion that perches over a wide expanse of the sound, was built in the 1920s as a hunt club for the wealthy. Today it is a museum open to the public in the Currituck Heritage Park, and adjacent to it sits the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education. Within walking distance of the Whalehead Club is the oft-photographed, red brick Currituck Beach Lighthouse. To this day, the lighthouse shines a beacon of light at 20-second intervals to warn ships of the perilous barrier islands. Climb the spiral staircase to the top and marvel at the views of the ocean, sound and Whalehead Club below. After a day full of sun, fun and history, you’ll want to explore Corolla’s shops. Whether you’re hunting for a one-of-a-kind painting by a local artist, a kite for the kids to fly, or a pair of board shorts, you’ll find what you’re looking for right here.

Eating out in Corolla will likely be one of the highlights of your stay, on top of the awesome amenities at our Corolla rentals.
