There’s a new wine bar in town…in this case is Manteo. Or maybe the way to say that is a NouVines bar.

NouVines did open over the summer, but sometimes it’s so hectic at that time of the year the we don’t get a chance to really appreciate what we have, and in the case of NouVines, it’s quite nice.

When Lori Wilkinson and Garrett Cameron thought about what they wanted in a wine bar they knew it had to be a place where people would feel comfortable just relaxing. No rushing to fill another seat, no hustle and bustle—just a place to have a glass or two of wine with a friend of share a bottle with friends.

There is a charcuterie board, but no kitchen, so the pressure to turn tables over simply is not there.

Located on Budleigh Street, the open interior with the larger picture window seems to match perfectly with what the couple had in mind. There are nine or ten tables arranged around the space. Along the back wall is the bar with half a dozen seats.

There is a small retail section with some very nice wines. There aren’t going to be any $10 bargains here. Mostly because Lori and Garrett personally sample and select each wine and there selection process includes sustainable production.

Still the wines tend to range in the $20-$50 range with a few a little less and a few a bit more.

During the winter, they are keeping the Friday evening nightlife going with live acoustic music. With the brick walls and the way the space is laid out, the acoustic sound is quite nice.

Certainly a business worth checking out.

The Outer Banks always seems to have something new happening. Be sure to make your Brindley Beach Vacations reservation as soon as possible to discover all that’s happening on this sandbar by the sea.
